Wayne Asbury of Du Quoin

DU QUOIN - Lee Wayne Asbury, 82, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.

Wayne had been a pumper for Consol #2 Coal Mine. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin. Wayne was also a member of the UMW of A. He was an avid Du Quoin High School sports fan.

He was born July 10, 1936 in Tamaroa, the son of Benjamin and Lenora (Thompson) Asbury.

He married Freida E. Jones on Oct. 23, 1954 at Pinckneyville, and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin; one son, Roger Asbury and wife, Tammy, of Du Quoin; two daughters, Patty Larsen and husband, Scott, of O'Fallon, IL. and Marsha Lilly and husband, Paul, of Du Quoin; one brother, Fred Asbury and wife, Terry, of Du Quoin; five grandchildren: Adam Larsen and wife, Hailey, of St. Louis, Jacob Larsen of O'Fallon, IL, Daniel Larsen of O'Fallon, IL, Alexis Vancil and husband, Joel, of Sylvania, GA, and Zachary Lilly of Du Quoin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gary Wayne Asbury; and two brothers, Donald Asbury and Roy Asbury.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Paradise Cemetery at Tamaroa.
