Scherry Lynn Baker, of Du Quoin

Scherry Lynn Baker, 69, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:28 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018 at her residence.

Scherry was a homemaker and hairdresser. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sesser. Scherry was a graduate of Sesser High School and Du Quoin Beauty College.

She was born Nov. 23, 1948 at Sesser, Illinois, the daughter of Robert E. and Mildred G. (Eubanks) Tate.

She married Richard A. Baker on Oct. 16, 1965 at Du Quoin, Illinois and he survives.

She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin; two daughters, Angela (Kurt) Harris of Du Quoin and Amy (Thomas) Mulherin of Red Bud; one son, Richard Allen Baker II of Du Quoin; her mother, Mildred G. Tate of Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren, Zachary Williams, Taylor Mulherin, Blayne Harris, Maggie Harris, McLain Baker, Jordyn Mulherin and Carolyne Mulherin; one great grandchild, Ophelia Harris; and a sister, Gaye Piercey of Dix, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her father; one sister, Vicki Ryder; and one brother, Robert Tate.

Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin, with the Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to SIH or Hospice of Southern Illinois, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
