Chris Worthington of Du Quoin
Christopher Allen Worthington, 29, of Du Quoin, passed away at 5:58 p.m., Sunday, July 15, 2018 at his residence.
Chris attended and graduated from Du Quoin High School, where he enjoyed playing football and baseball. Chris also enjoyed riding four-wheelers and was an avid Motocross fan. Chris later acquired his CDL license and began driving a truck for a living. Chris was employed by Cross and Sons during his last days. He was a member of Faith Church in St. Louis. He loved his family.
He was born Sept. 20, 1988 in Chicago, the son of Ricky Allen and Valorie Denise (Gordon) Worthington.
He is survived by his children, Ricky Allen Worthington and Teigen Chrisheal Worthington, both of Mt. Vernon; stepdaughter, Jaylee Brantley, of Mt. Vernon; mother, Valorie Worthington (Greg Buggs), of St. Louis; stepfather, Lamonte Mitchell, of Du Quoin; significant other, Stephanie Schmitt, of Mt. Vernon; siblings, Nicole Worthington (Anthony Foutch) of Du Quoin, Brandi (Timothy) Maclin of Wentzville, Missouri, Tenielle Worthington of Du Quoin, Amanda (Bob) Mitchell of Du Quoin and Lisa (Wendell) Killian of Du Quoin; special brothers, Garrett Mathis of Du Quoin, and Quinton Mathis (Stevie) of Tennessee; his second mother, Jean Ann Mathis (Bill) of Du Quoin; his special grandmother, Ruth Mathis of Du Quoin; brothers-in-law, Terence Mays of Mt. Vernon and Damon Reed Sr. of Virginia; nieces and nephews, Ricquel Worthington, Alexis (Antonio) Smith, Shiann Adams, Alijah Mitchell, Michael Worthington, Taryn Mays, Damon Reed, Shamar Adams, Devin Reed, Joseph Maclin, Wendell Killian, Jr. and Jamal Hubbard; great niece Ayvilyn Smith; great nephew Raeden Hanson; aunts and uncles, Debbie Worthington, Evelyn Louise (Dewy) Gleghorn, Frankie Worthington, Vanessa Worthington, Phylliss Johnson, Diana Brown, Michael (Dorothy) Johnson, David (Liz) Johnson, John (Lisa) Toliver, Gary Dickerson, Darrick (Stacey) Brown and Darren Brown; special friends, Jordan Ragland and Nick Riggio; and a host of cousins and friends.
Chris was an affectionate son, loving brother and an excellent father.
He was preceded in death by his father, paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, July 21 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with the Rev. Gary Darnell officiating.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin.
