Audra Lee Clifton (Roper), formerly of Carrier Mills

Audra Clifton, age 99, passed away early Sunday May 20, 2018 at the Atterdag Care Center in Solvang, California, with her family by her side.

Audra was born July 17, 1918 in Carrier Mills, Illinois to Aud and May Dallas. She married R.M. Roper in 1935. Shortly after, they moved to California, where R.M. was stationed at Alameda Naval Air Station prior to World War II. Audra worked at the Oak Knoll Naval Hospital as a nurse's assistant during the war.

They lived in the San Francisco Bay Area until R.M retired, then they lived in Pismo Beach, CA. until her husband of 48 years passed away in 1982. Later, Audra remarried Larry Clifton and moved to Borrego Springs, California. Upon Larry's passing, Audra moved to Santa Ynez, California, to be closer to her family.

Audra was a devoted wife and mother. She was an excellent cook who loved to feed family and friends. One could say cooking was her main hobby.

In her final years, Audra was cared for at the Solvang Atterdag Care Center (Many thanks to all the devoted staff there.)

Audra is survived by a brother, Terry (Marsha) Dallas; her son Terry (Carol) Roper; grandchildren Jason, Jesse and Jake; several great-grandchildren and niece Carolyn Capel of Carrier Mills.

Memorial services have not yet been planned.
