Dorothea J. Jones of Harrisburg

Dorothea J. Jones, age 82, of Harrisburg, passed away at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2018 in Harrisburg Medical Center.

She was born in Raleigh on July 6, 1935 to the late Charles K. and D. Eloise Raley Chamberlain. On March 28, 1953 in Rossville, Georgia, she married Robert E. Jones and he preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 2000.

She was a graduate of Eldorado High School and a member of the Union Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Galatia.

Dorothea is survived by three sons, John (Nell) Jones of Christopher, Kenneth (Lois) Jones of Harrisburg, and Brian (Michele) Jones of Kevil, Kentucky; daughter Cindy (Sunny) Jones of Chatham, Illinois; six grandchildren, Kari (Chris) Ramsey, Tim (Rachel) Jones, Brandon (Erika) Jones, Breanna (Logan) Davis, Ross Jones and Robbi Evetts; four great-grandchildren, Nathan Ramsey, Chuck and Paul Jones and Teddy Jones; and sister Rebecca (Art) Baise of Rolla, Missouri. Dorothea was looking forward to the birth soon of another great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Sara Anne Calvert.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018 at the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, with the Rev. Jerry Williams officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. on Friday. Burial will be in the Brushy Cemetery.

The family's preferred choice of remembrance is memorials to the Brushy Cemetery or to the Galatia Food Pantry, in lieu of flowers. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
