Albert R. Maynor of Pope County

Albert R. Maynor, 81, a resident of the Glendale community in Pope County, passed away on May 2, 2018 at his home.

He was born May 11, 1936 in the Eddyville community. He was the son of Reedus and Ethel (Harlow) Maynor. He was united in marriage to Nola (Schuchardt) on Nov. 7, 1953 in Corinth, Mississippi.

In 1955, Albert and Nola went to Chicago and Elgin to find work. He worked in a factory and as a carpenter. He later came home and worked as a carpenter and on construction. In 1969, he bought his first backhoe and went into business for himself. In 1977, he added a dozer to the business, which is known as Albert Maynor's Backhoe and Dozer Service. He was a member of 318 Owner Operator Union. He helped build many houses, poured basements, worked on Vandalia and Vienna prisons and Interstates 57 and 24. He also farmed with his father and on his own farm.

Survivors include his wife, Nola Maynor; three children, Norman (Dawn) Maynor, Pamela (Dennis) Morse and Kyrum Maynor, all of the Eddyville community; six grandchildren, Bradley (Liz) Maynor, Brandy (Barry) Willis, Derek Morse, Calvin Morse, Reedus Maynor and Chris Reed; and one great-grandchild, Elyse Willis.

In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by a grandson, Kyle Morse, and sister, Lena (Maynor) Sims.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday May 5, 2018 at the New Liberty Church near Eddyville. Burial will follow at the New Liberty Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Tirey will conduct the service. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday May 4, 2018 at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville.
