Janet A. Murray of Du Quoin

Janet A. Murray, 83, of Du Quoin, passed away at 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Janet had worked in the loan department in the banking industry. She also worked at the Du Quoin Packing Company and for the U.S. Navy.

Janet was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin, where she helped with the fish fries and funeral dinners. She was an avid bingo player.

She was born Sept. 20, 1934 at Du Quoin, the daughter of R. Melvin and Mary (Seibert) Jent and her stepmother Nadine (Eubanks) Jent.

She married Edward L. "John" Murray on June 18, 1954 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin and he preceded her in death on June 27, 2012.

She is survived by one son, J. Thomas Murray of Du Quoin; daughter-in-law Lindy Murray of Addieville; grandchildren Haley (Jason) Biehl of St. Louis, Meredith Murray of St. Louis, Robin Murray of Addieville and Thomas Murray of St. Louis; one great-grandchild, Autumn Joan-Marie Biehl of St. Louis; one brother, Nick (Patti) Jent of Dallas, Texas; brother-in-law Andy (Brenda) Murray of Du Quoin; sister-in-law Jo Ann (Eugene) Fulkerson of Du Quoin; several nieces and nephews; and special boys, Danny and Reggie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, husband, and son, Mel Murray.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin, with Fr. Joseph Oganda officiating.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the church.

Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorials to the Sacred Heart Cemetery or the Marshall Browning Hospital Tree of Life, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
