Jackson Donald Hill of Tamaroa

Jackson Donald Hill, 83, of Tamaroa, passed away at 1 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford, Florida.

Jack had worked as a foreman at G.S. Metals. He was a graduate of Tamaroa High School.

Jack was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1953 until 1957. Upon returning to Tamaroa, he worked at Malinski Tire until he started a long career at G.S. Metals, from which he retired.

After retiring, Jack and his wife, Iris, spent many winters in Florida as snowbirds. At this time, Jack began his great love of golf, spending many hours playing with the "guys."

Jack loved his family and was a strong supporter of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His love and presence will be greatly missed. Jack was a beloved husband, father, grandpa and brother. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

He was born Aug. 11, 1934 at DeSoto, the son of Carl and Lucille (Preston) Hill.

He married Dora Frailey on May 15, 1956 at Murphysboro, and she preceded him in death in September of 1973. He married Iris (Hampleman) Robbins on May 28, 1976 at Tamaroa, and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Tamaroa; two children, Carol (Doug) Kellerman of Pinckneyville and Mike (Debbie) Robbins of Tamaroa; one brother, Robert (Jane) Hill of Gibson City, Illinois; one sister, Ella Wilson of Tamaroa; six grandchildren, Erica (Casey) Stick, Adam (Bekki) Kellerman, Lucas (Brandy) Kellerman, Todd (Dana) Kellerman, Natalie (Clint) Hoffman, and Clint (Madi) Robbins; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jackson and Aubrey Kellerman, Harper Kellerman, Avery Hoffman and Kynnedi Hoffman; special adopted daughter, Cookee Musser; several nieces and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Dora, one grandson, Noel Kellerman and a brother-in-law, Danny Wilson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa with Archie Hampleman giving the eulogy.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion and the United States Navy.

Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery at Tamaroa.

Friends may make memorials to the Antioch Cemetery, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
