Charles W. Parks of Carrier Mills
Charles W. Parks, 80, of 7385 U.S. Highway 45 South, Carrier Mills, died at 3:08 p.m. Sunday April 15, 2018 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Visitation will be held after 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. Military rites will begin at 2 p.m., by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American legions and the U.S. Navy Ritual Team.
Burial will be at a later date in Lakeview Memorial Garden in Fairview Heights.
Mr. Parks was born on Aug. 9, 1937 in Carrier Mills to the late Shelby and Betty (Ney) Parks. He married the former Barbara Jean Donohue and she preceded him in death on July 17, 1986.
He worked as a chemical engineer at Monsanto Chemical Co. until retirement. He served in the U.S. Navy for many years and was a member of Carrier Mills American Legion Post 364.
Mr. Parks is survived by a daughter, Helen Rose (John) Walker of Granite City; a son, Gary (Mary Kay) Parks of Granite City; grandchild Justin Parks of Lebanon, Missouri; stepbrother Dewayne (Barb) Randolph of Anna; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Debbie and Bennie Manion of Marion; and four great friends, Paula Pyle, Richard Chadeyne, Albert Mitchell and Gene Ross.
