Gene Anthony Cramer, formerly of Sandoval

Gene Anthony Cramer, 72, formerly of Sandoval, died peacefully Tuesday, April 10, 2018.

Gene was born June 8, 1945 in Chicago, the son of Andrew and Jennie (Saiz) Cramer.

Gene worked at his father's service station and the J R Centre in Anna. Gene was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Elvis fan. He loved music, dancing, singing and playing his guitar. He was a history buff and loved classic cars.

Gene is survived by his sister, Eileen (Cramer) Troutt-Ervin, and husband Bob Perry; nephew Andrew Troutt; niece Marleen (Troutt) Shepherd; great-nephew Isaiah Shepherd; step-nieces Kathi (Ervin) Odum and Julie (Ervin) Yates; step-nephews Steve and David Ervin; cousins Frank and Alice Keller; and many other cousins and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law Marvin Troutt and Osbin Ervin, and aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2018, with the funeral at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church of Carbondale. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sparrow Coalition, 306 W. Monroe St. in Carbondale Carbondale, or Chamness Care Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1, Jonesboro, Ill., 62952. Chamness Care took such wonderful care of Gene for more than 22 years. Gene loved people and was always kind.
