Adolph W. Hornbostel Jr. of Campbell Hill

CAMPBELL HILL - Adolph W. Hornbostel, Jr., 87, of Campbell Hill passed away at 11:48 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Adolph was born on June 8, 1930, in Campbell Hill, the son of Adolph, Sr. and Elda (Westerman) Hornbostel. He was in the Army Air Force 82nd airborne during the Korean conflict. Adolph married Marie C. Welge on June 18, 1955, at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Chester, and they shared 62 years of marriage.

He was a farmer all his life, and a lifetime member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church (West Point), the B.B.K. American Legion Post #480, Steeleville, Shiloh Hill Community Club, Oraville Sportsman Club, Trico FFA Alumni, Randolph County Farm Bureau, and the Pork Producers.

He is survived by his wife, Marie C. Hornbostel, of Campbell Hill; three children, Edward A. Hornbostel, of Campbell Hill, Nancy L. (Terry) Guethle, of Campbell Hill, and Diane M. Ehlers, of Campbell Hill; five grandchildren, Matthew (Michelle) Hornbostel, Mark (Bryn) Hornbostel, Hadley, Hannah, and Harris Ehlers; step-grandson Terry Guethle Jr.; and two great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Morgan Hornbostel. He is also survived by two sisters; Alice Nelson, of Steeleville, and Lardean Welge, of Chester.

Mr. Hornbostel was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister; Bernice Gremmels.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 16, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church (West Point) with the Rev. Sean Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., and Monday morning from 7:30 to 9 a.m. and from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
