Michael D. Irvin of Galatia

Michael D. Irvin, 63, resident of Galatia, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.

Michael was born Aug. 1, 1954 in Harrisburg to the late Philip and Wanda (Guye) Irvin. He served in the U.S. Navy, was a coal miner, and an avid musician.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Marlene (Gollihur) Irvin; a daughter, Jessica (Chad) Martell of Sheldon; three sons, Michael Jeremy Irvin of Eldorado, Justin David (Becky) Irvin of Galatia, and Phillip Jonathan (Mistie) Irvin of Galatia; seven grandchildren, Mason, Weston Martell, Makayda, Isaac, Ian Irvin, Landon and Adalie Irvin; a step-grandson, Skyler Windham; two brothers, David (Carlos) Irvin of Chicago and Denny (LuAnn) Irvin of Galatia; and three sisters, Diane Clarida, Debbie (Steve) Evans and Becky (Paul) Butler, all of Galatia. He is also survived by several brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed by many. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, Mathew Jason Irvin.

Memorial services and meal to follow will be 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the Flock Building in Galatia. In lieu of flowers, please bring a dish to the memorial service. If you play an instrument, please bring it with you.
