Wanda June Lake of Virden, formerly of Grant Tower

Wanda J. (Wright) Lake, 81 of Virden, Illinois, passed away Sunday March 25, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Wanda was born Jan. 19, 1937 in Grand Tower, the daughter of Nelson F. and Eva (Courier) Wright. She married Gene H. Lake on April 12, 1958 in Virden.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Virden and retired in 2001 after 31 years as a librarian for the Grand Prairie of The West Library in Virden.

Wanda is survived by her husband, Gene H. Lake of Virden; daughter Debra Lyn (Mark) Parsons of Hannibal, Mo; son Scott C. Lake of Girard, Ill.; grandsons Jeremy Bliss of Springfield and Joshua Bliss of Canton, Mo.; great-grandchildren Laken and Kynadee Bliss of Springfield and Aubrey and Ayden Bliss of Canton, Mo; a sister, Fern Winters; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents and several brothers and sisters.

There will be no services at this time. Cremation rites have been accorded by Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home in Virden.
