Philip Payne of Macedonia
Philip Payne, 76, of Macedonia passed away at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at the Marion VA
Medical Hospice Unit.
As per his request, Mr. Payne will be cremated, and a memorial service was held Sunday, March 18 at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Visitation was from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the memorial service at 2 p.m. A graveside burial of ashes followed at Macedonia Cemetery. Military honors were conducted by American Legion Post 106 of McLeansboro and the Marine Corps Honor Team. The Rev. Ray Long officiated the service.
He was born Feb. 17, 1942, in Macedonia to John Franklin Payne and Gladys (Carter) Payne.
He married Rosemary Ellen Ragan Oct. 14, 1966, at Antioch Church in Macedonia.
He was a coal miner. Philip served in the U.S. Marines Reserve Infantry. He was Methodist by faith. He loved all aspect of horses, playing with grandchildren and calf roping.
Survivors include wife Rosemary Payne; son Chad Payne of Macedonia; daughter Lori Sink and husband Chris of Macedonia; grandchildren Logan, Hayley and Kelsie Sink of Macedonia and Madison Garrett Payne of Macedonia; and sister Susan Plater of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Helen Miller.
Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro was in charge of arrangements.
