Charles Wayne Goforth of Tamaroa
Charles Wayne Goforth, 86, of Tamaroa, passed away at 8:56 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2018 at his residence.
Wayne had been a trooper with the Illinois State Police. He was of the Catholic faith. He was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War. Wayne was the retired Illinois State Representative for District 115.
He was a member of the 32nd Degree Masons, Tamaroa Masonic Lodge #207, Shriners, Knights of Columbus Du Bois and he was a life member of the American Legion.
He was born Oct. 22, 1931 at Tamaroa, the son of Isaac and Grace (Barker) Goforth.
He married Betty June Zeigler in 1955 and she preceded him in death on April 8, 2005.
He is survived by one daughter, Judy (James) Samolinski of Tamaroa; three grandsons, Robert (Shannon) Samolinski of Tamaroa, Chad (Jessica) Goforth of West Palm Beach, Florida and Matthew (Julie) Goforth of West Palm Beach; four great-grandchildren, Mary Samolinski of Tamaroa, Emily Vale of Norcross, Georgia, Griffin Vale of Carbondale, and Julie Goforth of West Palm Beach; two great-great-granddaughters, Grace Vale and Aubrei Vale; one brother, Thomas Goforth of Brownsville, TX; and one sister, Ceola Benedict of Sesser.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Charles Dwight Goforth, brother Glen Goforth and sister Margaret Jane Moore.
Funeral services will be at noon, Friday, March 23, at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa with Fr. Daniel Jurek officiating.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.
Masonic Rites will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin American Legion and V.F.W. and the United States Navy.
Burial will be in the Tamaroa Cemetery at Tamaroa.
Friends may make memorials to the Shriners Hospital, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
