Jessie Onaria Carter of Harrisburg

Jessie Onaria Carter, age 84, of Harrisburg, passed away at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at her residence.

Jessie was born on Aug. 29, 1933 in Harrisburg to the late David J. and Verba Ann (Manley) Bush. She married Charles Carter and he preceded her in death. She was a retired custodian. She became a christian nine years ago and was baptized.

Surviving family members include her daughter, Charlene Ferrell of Harrisburg; son Dean Furlong of Henderson, Kentucky; daughter Carmen Drone of Sparta, Illinois; daughter Shelby Hamilton of Harrisburg; son Eddie Hill and wife Brooke of Carrier Mills; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and sister Carmen L. Lightfoot.

Jessie was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kenny D. Hutchison; two sisters, JoAnn Gibbs and Dixie Lee Carrigan; and one brother, Rollie DeNean Bailey.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Rev. Phillip Fritts will officiate. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Reed Funeral Chapel.
