Marilyn Ann Smith of Du Quoin

Marilyn Ann Smith, 72, of Du Quoin, passed away at 3:31 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the Kindred Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Marilyn was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Du Quoin. She was born July 10, 1945 in Chicago, IL, the adopted daughter of William and Edna (Epperson) Stewart.

She married Floyd C. Smith, Sr. on Feb. 29, 1964 at Du Quoin, IL and he preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 2006.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Smith and Floyd C. Smith, Jr., both of Du Quoin; one daughter, Michelle Careaway of Goreville; her mother, Helen Brown of St. Louis, MO; two brothers, Larry Brown and Bill Brown, both of Du Quoin; three sisters, Brenda Brown Hayes and Zannetta Brown, both of St. Louis, and Linda Brown Herron of Topeka, KS; four grandsons, two granddaughters and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, husband and two brothers, Austin Brown and Hamid Rashid.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2018 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin, with the Rev. Leon Kelley officiating.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to the time of the service on Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
