Lawrence (Buzz) M. Busby of Anna
Lawrence (Buzz) M. Busby, 67, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.
He was born April 4, 1950, in Harvey. Lawrence graduated from Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights June 13, 1968, and immediately enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps. He proudly served his country in the Marine Corps Special Forces in Vietnam from June 1968 to June 1969 and received a Combat Action Ribbon. Lawrence re-enlisted into the Army's 12th Special Forces Group (Airborne Division) from June 1981 through January 1986.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his father, William E. Busby; his dearest sister, Denise D. Horn (Busby); stepbrother Carl Ahrendt; his mother, Edith D. Ahrendt; stepfather Donald A. Ahrendt; stepbrother Andrew Ahrendt (Gayle); stepsisters Kristine Kovac (Steven) and Renata Ahrendt; brother-in-law David Horn; and nephew Nicholas Horn.
He will be dearly missed by his family and his dear friends and staff at the Veterans Home in Anna. Semper Fi. We will forever miss his smile, laughter and striking blue eyes.
Memorial services with military rites will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 7 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale.
