Randall Tanner of Creal Springs

Randall Tanner, 88, of Creal Springs, died peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018.

He was born Sept. 13, 1929, the son of Lewis and Edith Tanner,

Randall married Emmajean Taylor and worked as a coal miner until his retirement. He was also a mason and lifelong resident of Creal Springs. He was a devoted father and provider for his family. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home with his wife and friends. He also enjoyed carving wood, gardening, drinking coffee at the restaurant and Mini Mart with the guys and riding his golf cart around town with his little dogs. He will be dearly missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.

Randall is survived by his wife; son, Rick Tanner; daughters, Cheri (Ed) Stroh and Donna (Tom) Buttrum; grandchildren: Mindy Tanner, Nikki Jolly, Samantha Austin, Jerod and Cassie Belford, Mike and Holly Dodd, Jennifer Stroh, Rob and Molly Stroh, Nathaniel and Angie Buttrum, Summer Buttrum, William and Laura Buttrum, Hailee Buttrum and Wesley Buttrum; and great-grandchildren: Mark Scott Morrison, Erin and Ben Collins, Adam Tanner, Brooke, Callie and Gavin Belford, Jake, Jonah, Nick and Abigail Austin, Morgyn Davis, Maryiah and Mycheal Menicucci, Noah, Ella and Jack Tate, Jon Newton, Ben, Eli and Joey Stroh, and Caityln Buttrum.

Also surviving are brothers Marvin (Vicki) Tanner, Dale (JoAnn) Tanner; sisters Sharon (Leon) MacDonald, Nancy Pappas and Betty (Eddie) Cooper; and a large extended family and friends.

Randall was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Paulette Soward; brothers, Don, Ken and Moe Tanner; and his best buddies, Precious, Bobby, Sissy and Bobo.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at the United Methodist Church in Creal Springs. There will be a visitation prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. Revs. Andy Black and Pete Vinson will officiate the service.

Flowers, condolences and memorials may be made to the Creal Springs United Methodist Church in memory of Randall Tanner at 103 E. Sterling St., Creal Springs. Cosby-Sloan Funeral Home in Creal Springs was in charge of arrangements.
