Jacqueline 'Jackie' Mae Hogrefe, 90, of Chester

Jacqueline "Jackie" Mae Hogrefe, 90, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 4:58 a.m., Monday, Feb. 5, 2018 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

She was born on April 8, 1927 in Chester, Illinois to Ray and Mary (nee Fleming) Lawder.

Jackie married Gilbert "Gibb" L. Hogrefe on Jan. 26, 1946 in Chester, Illinois. Jackie often referred to Gibb as her soul mate, and spoke so fondly of the years they spent together. Gibb preceded her in death on April 12, 1985.

She had worked as book inspector for Spartan Printing. She loved telling stories of the days she spent working there, and the memories she made with her co-workers, whom she cherished dearly.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Chester River Rats.

Jackie was a creative soul, and loved to paint and write poems. Later in life, Jackie referred to herself as "The Glitzy Grandma." She loved gold, sparkle, leopard print, all things "glitz".

Jackie was loved by all, and had a heart as big as her personality. She will be missed fiercely, and remembered fondly.

She is survived by her two children, Michele (Jay) Link of Chester and Mark (Souad) Hogrefe, of Chester; five grandchildren, Eric Hogrefe and John (Rose) Link, both of Chester; Corey (Maria) Hogrefe of St. Louis, Missouri; Angela (Brent) Mason of Kansas City, Missouri; and Brooke Hogrefe (Nick), of St. Louis; three great-grandchildren, Savana Link of Steeleville, and Rachel Mason and Allison Mason, both of Kansas City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gilbert Hogrefe, and one son, Michael Ray Hogrefe.

It was Jackie's wish to be cremated.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, Illinois, with Rev. Tim Sims officiating.

Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. Monday at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home.

Inurnment will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Chester.
