David A. McMurray of Dowell

David A. McMurray, 54, of Dowell, passed away at 1:15 a.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

David had been a drilling rig laborer. He was of the Protestant faith.

He was born April 19, 1963 at Murphysboro, the son of Noble Wayne and Edna (Wheatley) McMurray.

He married Mary Kirby on Oct. 1, 1994 at Murphysboro and she preceded him in death on Feb. 7, 2002.

He is survived by one daughter - Niki McMurray of Du Quoin; sisters and brothers - Marsha Frederick of South Carolina; Debby McMurray of California; Louie McMurray of Herrin; Kathy Wayer of Florida; Bob McMurray of Texas and Nancy Knight of Du Quoin.

Additional survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Joshua Knight.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers - Tom McMurray and Stephen McMurray and one sister - Linda McMurray.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 9, 2018 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Scott Slone officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin.
