Harrell G. Ewell of Harrisburg
HARRISBURG - Harrell G. Ewell, 88, passed away Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, in Harrisburg Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 18, 1929, in Harrisburg to Clarence C. and Ada Parks Ewell. He married the former Clarice Boulden, and she preceded him in death.
Harrell was a veteran of the National Guard and U.S. Navy.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Harrisburg, Harrisburg Lodge 325 AF & AM, Valley of Southern Illinois Consistory, Ainad Temple Shriners, Local 318 Operating Engineers for 40 years, Sword of Bunker Hill, Egyptian Shrine Club, Egyptian Motor Patrol and UMWA for 18 years.
Harrell also was past president and longtime member of Harrisburg Hunters Club, lifetime member of the NRA and a founding member of the Whittington NRA. He was a graduate of Harrisburg High School.
Survivors include two sons, Glen Ewell and Van Ewell, both of Harrisburg; and two grandchildren, Austin Harrell Ewell and Katie Ewell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Clarise; brother, Carl Ewell; and sister, Zella Mae Tellas Jordan.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, in Sunset Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Reed officiating. There will be no visitation. Those attending should go directly to the cemetery.
