David Alan Swierenga of Du Quoin
David Alan Swierenga, 60, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9:41 a.m., Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
David had been a truck driver for Barr Trucking. He was of the Christian faith.
David was a member of the V.F.W. Mens Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion, Eagles Lodge and Moose Lodge. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
He was born Oct. 17, 1957, the son of Henry and Anna (Dykstra) Swierenga.
He married Kathy Aldridge on Oct. 18, 2008 at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds. She survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, his mother - Anna Evenhouse of Crestwood, Illinois; two daughters - Heather Pichon and husband Shane of Atlanta, Illinois, and Carla Kopp and husband Nick of Huntsville, Alabama; one stepson - Blake Aldridge and wife Amy of Palm Bay, Florida; three grandchildren - Blake Hendricks, Kolton Hendricks and Gunner Pichon, one sister - Donna Brave of Evansville, Indiana; one brother - Mark Swierenga and wife Kim of Valparaiso, Indiana; several nieces and nephews and his special Shih Tzu dog - Bella.
He was preceded in death by his father, stepfather Ralph Evenhouse and his cat, Maynard.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Danny Kirk officiating.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the Perry County Humane Society, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
