Obituary for Leland L. Bowerman

<p class="p1">STEELEVILLE - Leland L. Bowerman, 84, of Steeleville passed away at 3:27 PM, Thursday, September 8, 2016 at the Memorial Hospital in Chester.

<p class="p1">Leland was born on February 19, 1932 in Percy, the son of Archie and Ella Mae (Davis) Bowerman.

<p class="p1">He married Jo Ann Reiman on December 27, 1952 in Percy. He was in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956 and again in 1958 to 1962.

<p class="p1">He then worked as a supply supervisor at Menard Penitentiary until his retirement.

<p class="p1">Leland was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Willisville, and a member of AFSCME.

<p class="p1">Leland is survived by his wife; Jo Ann of Steeleville, 1 son; Rick (Mary Ann) Bowerman of Campbell Hill, 2 grandchildren; Chad Bowerman and Carissa (Richie) Boyd of Willisville, and four great-grandchildren: Jordan Bowerman, Kyler Bowerman, Kay Lynn Brock, and Carsyn Boyd.

<p class="p1">Leland is also survived by a special cousin, Barbara Jaimet.

<p class="p1">He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son: David Lee Bowerman, 1 great-grandchild: Ashton, and a special cousin, Danny Jaimet.

<p class="p1">Funeral mass was held at 1 p.m., Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Willisville, with Father Larry Lemay officiating.

<p class="p1">Burial followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Murphysboro. Memorials may be made to the Three Springs Recreation Activity.
