Obituary for Ralph Granger

RALPH F. GRANGER, 82, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 10 p.m., Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville, Missouri.

He was born to the late Frank H. and Emma H. (nee: Srull) Granger on April 17, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan.

He married Mardell M. Moeller on July 22, 1979 in Chester, Illinois. She survives.

Ralph was a graduate of Concordia University - River Forest and was working on his Doctorate at SIU-Carbondale. He taught for 40 years in the Lutheran school system, teaching in Hamlin, N.Y., Grand Rapids, Mich., and Chester, where he was a teacher and former principal at St. John Lutheran School.

He was an avid sports fan, especially Detroit teams and the St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed umpiring and refereeing baseball, softball, basketball and volleyball.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester and the Lutheran Educators Association.

Survivors - Wife: Mardell Granger, Chester; 2 Children - Christine (Danny) Campbell, Mt. Vernon; Mark (Christy) Granger, Denver, Col.; One step-granddaughter Hilary (Brad) King; One step-great-granddaughter Ashlei Kee; Three nieces: Georgi La Cava, Caroline Yorks, Donna (Kenyon) Kaehr; three nephews: Matthew Carr, Christopher (Anne) Carr, Richard (Kelly) Carr; One godchild, Zachary Carr and six great nieces; Six great nephews; One great-great Nephew.

Preceded in death by: Parents, One infant son - Kevin Granger. Interment is at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Chester.
