Obituary for Dorothy M. "Dotty" Maes
DOROTHY M. "DOTTY" MAES, 85, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 4:25 am, Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Three Springs Lodge Nursing Home in Chester.
She was born to the late Ben and Florence (nee: Holmes) Eggers on October 18, 1930 in Chester, Illinois.
She married Anthony "Tony" Maes on November 22, 1952 in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on May 19, 2003.
Dotty was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chester, Illinois and the Blessed Virgin Mary Altar Sodality.
She was an avid bowler, St. Louis Cardinal fan and Green Bay Packers fan. She had worked as a greeter and cashier at Chester Walmart for 19 years.
Survivors include four daughters: Brenda Kay (Curtis) Everding, Red Bud, Toni (Kevin) Diercks, Chester, Terri Ann (Terry) Hirte, Perryville, Mo., Charlotte (Mike) Grider, Chester
Two sons: Bradley Robert (Donna) Maes, Edwardsville, Scott Louis Maes, Chester.
One sister-in-law: Dot Eggers, Starke, Fla.
Twelve Grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceded in death by parents, husband - Tony Maes, one son - Randy Joe Maes, two brothers - Richard "Dick" Eggers and Barney Eggers and two sisters-in-law - Vivian Eggers and Betty Eggers.
Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Chester, Illinois with the Very Reverend Eugene H. Wojcik, V.F. and Father Allen Maes officiating.
Interment at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Chester, Illinois.
Memorials can be made to the Alzheimers Association and Hospice of Southern Illinois.
