Obituary for Arlou Hartmann
<span>MURPHYSBORO - Arlou (Voss) Hartmann, 75, of Murphysboro, passed away at 7:25 p.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at St. John's Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. She died of a rare form of cancer that was diagnosed on January 14, 2016.</span>
<span>Arlou was born October 5, 1940 in Sparta, IL., a daughter to the late Roland H. and Luella S. (Spier) Voss. She was married to James M. Whittenberg of Chester in 1960, and then was married to Norbert Hartmann of Red Bud, IL. in 1979 who left her widowed on 2002.</span>
<span>Arlou was a high school graduate of Anna Jonesboro, IL. She had been a resident of Chester, IL., Red Bud, IL., St. Louis, MO., and lastly retired to Murphysboro to be close to her family.</span>
<span>Arlou spent the majority of her life in the restaurant business where she retired. She then worked at Kroger in Carbondale, IL., until 2013 and then continued to work at Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was a member up until four weeks of her passing. </span>
<span>Arlou enjoyed and loved her family, fishing, motorcycle riding with her brother John and cooking.</span>
<span>Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro; Rev. Josemon Hoem of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murphysboro will officiate. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Murphysboro</span>
<span>Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church.</span>
<span>Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law; Kim and Bryan Cramer of Murphysboro, one son and daughter-in-law; Matt and Linda Wittenberg of Murray, KY., four grandchildren; Amanda Cramer, Tony Cramer, Tabitha Jones and Marisa Whittenberg, three great-grandchildren; Isaac Jones, Nevaeh Jones, and Tre Jones, she is also survived by her sister-in-law; Carol J. Voss of Murphysboro, and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. </span>
<span>She was preceded in death by her husband; Norbert Hartmann, her parents, one brother; John R. Voss, one niece; Pamela Voss Martin.</span>
