Obit for Shirley McDonough

Shirley M. McDonough, 81, of Ellis Grove, Illinois, passed away at 3:30 am, Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at her home in Ellis Grove.

She was born to the late Ralph and Margaret (nee: Knott) Seymour on February 22, 1934 in Ellis Grove.

She married Lawrence O. McDonough on August 25, 1951 in Ellis Grove. He survives.

Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ellis Grove.

She was a homemaker. She made afghans and crafts, was an Avon and Shaklee distributor and managed Carrie-in-Laundry in Chester. She joyfully dedicated many years to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ to children and youth in Bible School and Sunday School.

Survivors include her husband Lawrence McDonough, Ellis Grove; three children Larry (Anita) McDonough, Ellis Grove, Bruce McDonough, Ellis Grove, Donna Schroeder, Chester; six grandchildren Natasha Kincaid, Matthew (Chelsea Helmers) McDonough, Melissa McDonough, Michelle (Marcus) Davis, Brittney Schroeder and Lindsey Schroeder; nine great grandchildren Loegan (Robbie) Anderson, Dylian Griffith, MaKinzie Griffith, Alyssia Griffith, Kyndl McDonough, Rylie McDonough, Marcus Davis II and Brooke Davis, one great-great grandchild Arabelle Anderson; three siblings Robert (Linda) Seymour, Snowflake, AZ, Carrie (Allen) Miers, Ellis Grove, Linda Blow, Ellis Grove; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceded in death by: parents, one son-in-law - Scott Schroeder, one brother - Richard Seymour and one sister - Norma Hall.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m.. Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the First Baptist Church, Ellis Grove, Illinois with Rev. Bill McCluskey officiating.

Interment Ellis Grove City Cemetery, Ellis Grove, Illinois.

Visitation will be on Friday, 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, Illinois and Saturday, 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Ellis Grove, Illinois.
