Obituary for Donald Lawrence Weiser
WALSH - Donald Lawrence Weiser, 71, was given life by his creator and was born on November 26, 1944, the child of Dorothy Louise (Moore) and Elmer Joseph Weiser, who precede him in death.
He received the gift of holy baptism and became a child of God; later publicly confessing his faith through confirmation and received the precious gift of the Lord's life-giving body and blood.
On January 3, 1963 he received the gift of a beloved companion in his spouse, Donna Mae (Reckenberg) Weiser, who survives.
They are blessed with the gift of four children, Sandra (Greg) Haertling, Pamela Kessel, Tamara Weiser and Donald Douglas (Angie) Weiser.
On December 27, 2015, Don passed away at St. Francis Medical Center, Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Don was also blessed with the gift of nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who he loved and adored unconditionally and also with the gift of a sister, Betty Scags and a brother Kenneth Scaglione, who also survive; with many nieces and nephews.
Don was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Walsh, Illinois.
Don was a 1962 graduate of Steeleville Community High School, attended ITT achieving his Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Don worked for McDonald Aircraft and later retired from Consolidatd Coal Company as a member of the senior management maintenance team in 1999. Don also was elected Blair Democrat Precinct Committeeman, served as the Randolph County Weed Commissioner and was a member of the Randolph County Board of Review for many years.
He also enjoyed raising Charolais Beef cattle during his retirement, spent time traveling, taking in many sites, scenes and shows with Donna.
Don was a lifetime member of Alma Lodge No. 497 A.F. & A. M., Steeleville where he was a past master and served as Secretary for many years.
He also was a member of Scottish Rites Bodies, Valley of Southern Illinois, Belleville, Illinois and was proud to belong to Ainad Shrine in E. St. Louis, Illinois.
Friends may call Friday, January 1, 2016 from 5-8pm at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville.
Funeral Services will be held January 2, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Wilson's Funeral Home with internment at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville.
Memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children or to Zion Lutheran Church.
Masonic Services will be at 8 p.m. Friday under the auspices of Alms Lodge No. 497 A.F. & A. M.
The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for Don.
