Obituary for Alice J. Grott

ALICE J. GROTT, 79, of Chester, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

She was born to the late Fern E. Larison on August 19, 1936 in Chester.

Alice married Dale Grott on August 25, 1956 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chester. He survives.

She was a retired nurse's aide and had worked at Memorial Hospital and St. Ann's Healthcare Center, both in Chester.

Alice was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chester. She was active member of the Dinner Auction Committee and Blessed Virgin Mary Altar Sodality.

She enjoyed her family, traveling, reading and checking up on her grandchildren on Facebook.

Survivors include her husband Dale Grott, Chester; four children Deborah (Lyn) Thies, Steeleville, Kimberly (Mike) Hecht, Chester, Scott (Mary) Grott, Wildwood, Mo., Jeffrey (Tracy) Grott, Quincy; seven grandchildren: Kevin, Erin, Kristin, Megan, Steven, Justin and Katlyn and one great-grandson, Ethan.

Preceded in death by her mother - Fern Larison Laufer and step-father - Jim Laufer.

It was Alice's wish to be cremated.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday December 5, at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, with Fr. Ben Stern officiating.

Visitation Friday - 5 pm - 8 pm and Saturday - 7:30 am - 11 am at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home.

Interment to be held at a later date.

Memorials can be made to St. Mary's Catholic School.
