Stephen James Riggio

Stephen James Riggio, 73, of Du Quoin, passed away at 11:20 A.M., Thursday, October 15, 2015 at his residence.

Steve had worked for Consolidated Coal Company as a safety supervisor. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin. He was a United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Steve was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., Eagles, and Knights of Columbus.

He was born May 23, 1942 at Du Quoin, IL, the son of Vincent P. and Ann (Restivo) Riggio.

He married Mary Louise Hoegger on June 14, 1974 at Carmi, IL and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, two sons - Matthew Riggio and wife Kelly of St. Charles, MO, and Michael Riggio of Du Quoin, one brother - Sam Riggio and wife Nancy of Du Quoin, two sisters - Antoinette Gayer and husband William and Joann Gordon and husband Bert, all of Herrin, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Fr. Nick Junker officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Rosary will be prayed at 9:20 A.M., Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion and the United States Navy.

Friends may make memorials to American Kidney Foundation, Sacred Heart Church Building Fund or Masses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
