Mary Lou Emling

Mary Lou Emling, 85, of Du Quoin, passed away at 3:58 P.M., Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at her residence.

Mary Lou had owned and operated Emling Cafe with her husband for twenty-five years. They had also operated Veterans Cab and Greyhound Bus Depot for several years. She was a homemaker and had also worked at Country Set. Mary Lou was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Du Quoin and was very active in the church activities. She enjoyed quilting and crafts.

She was born November 7, 1929 at Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of Lester O. and Stella (Tucker) Brock.

She married Elmer Emling, Sr. on November 18, 1949 at Arkansas and he preceded her in death on July 7, 1984.

She is survived by two daughters - Linda Fronek and Sandra Clarke, both of Du Quoin, one sister - Virginia Todaro of Du Quoin, one brother - Jesse Brock of Belleville, seven grandchildren - Sherry Loyd Miller Harrison of Dowell, Richard A. Loyd II of Du Quoin, Joseph Dale Fronek of Du Quoin, Stacy Emling of Du Quoin, Terri Easley and husband Kyle of Texas, Bobbie Beane and husband Jeff of Texas, and Stephanie Sparks and husband Olin of Tennessee, seventeen great grandchildren - Wade Romani, Caroline Romani, Elana Romani, Kayla Eason, Hayden Smallwood, McKenzy Beane, Gavyn Beane, Dakoda Sparks, Johanna Fronek, Elizabeth Fronek, Ethan Fronek, Garrett Loyd, Grace Loyd, Alyssa Loyd, Joshua Crispin, Kasey Crispin, Matthew Miller, and one great grandchild on the way, four great great grandchildren - Waylen Pedigo, Isaias Velasquez, Nevaeh Velasquez, Jovani Velasquez, and one great great grandchild on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son - Elmer Emling, Jr., one sister - Shirley Hamburger, and one brother in infancy.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Sunday, October 11, 2015 at the Gospel Assembly Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Gaylen Holden and Rev. Dennis Fitzsimmons officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M., Saturday at the Gospel Assembly Church in Du Quoin and from 9 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Sunday.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to Gospel Assembly Church in Du Quoin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
