Marlene Helen Rainwater
Marlene Helen Rainwater, 75, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Benton Rehab and Health Care Center in Benton.
Marlene was a homemaker and had worked as a clerk for Krogers and had been a waitress.
She was a member of the Du Quoin United Methodist Church. She loved reading, gardening, needle work and homemaking. She also loved her dog, Molly.
She was born Aug. 1, 1938 at St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Ross and Pearl Glasscock.
Marlene married Jerry Ray Rainwater on July 11, 1996 at St. Louis, Mo. and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, children- Kevin Commean and wife Cheryl of Benton, Dr. Mark R. Commean and wife Amita of Oswego, John Rainwater and wife Lori of Du Quoin and Teresa Derby and husband Jim of Du Quoin, grandchildren- Patrick Commean and wife Mindy of Belleville, Dilan Commean and Sofia Commean, both of Oswego, step grandchildren- Ashley and James Pritchard, Kari Shaw, Caleb Shaw, Adam Derby, Taylor Derby, Jacob Rainwater and Erica Rainwater, step great grandchildren- Isaac Pritchard and Hunter Brookshire, brother- Mike Liesemeyer and wife, Helen, of Dongola.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother- David Glasscock, sister- Sharon Youngblood.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Donna Blythe officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the Shriners Crippled Childrens Hospital or the Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
