Marie E. Hall

Marie E. 'Tudy' Hall, 100, of Du Quoin, passed away at 11:57 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014 at her residence.

Tudy had been a housewife. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin. She had attended William Woods College For Women and Southern Illinois University, majoring in French. Tudy was Du Quoin's first Life Master at Bridge. She was a golfer, tennis player, needle pointer and knitter. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles and word games.

She was born Sept. 26, 1913 at Vandalia, Ill., the daughter of Floyd and Ella (Herman) James.

She married Dr. Byford I. Hall on June 9, 1934 at Salem, Ill. and he preceded her in death on Aug. 28, 1978.

She is survived by three children - Byford I. Hall Jr. and wife Linda of Gainesville, Fla., Janice H. Rosenfeld and husband Jim of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and James W. Hall and wife Vicki of Craig, Colo., five grandchildren - Patrick Skrzyniecki of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jay Rosenfeld and wife Stacy of Pensacola, Fla., Rachel Wormus and husband David of Durango, Colo., Rebekah O'Donnell and husband Mike of Clarksville, Tenn. and Spencer Wayman of Craig, Colo., one great grandson - William O'Donnell of Clarksville, Tenn., nephews - Mark Maclin and Alan Maclin and her special caregivers - Jessica Cooper and Sandy Goeke.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers - Max H. James and Charles F. James.

Memorial graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.

Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Salvation Army, Shriners Children's Hospital or First Baptist Church in Du Quoin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
