Gertrude Lorene McCormick

Gertrude Lorene "Gertie" McCormick, age 90, of Mt. Vernon, Ill., formerly of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 9:50 p.m. in Good Samaritan Regional Health Center, Mt. Vernon, Ill.

Gertie was born on Jan. 1, 1924 in Pinckneyville, Ill., a daughter to William and Erla (Jones) Borman. On Oct. 5, 1945, she married Darius McCormick in Paducah, Ky. and he preceded her in death in July 10, 2013 after 67 years of marriage. Gertie was a member of the First Pentecostal Church, Pinckneyville, Ill., Eastern Star and was a checker at Kroger, Pinckneyville, Ill., for 26 years. She enjoyed attending church, participating in church activities, crocheting, embroidery, camping, shopping and spending time with her family.

Survivors include one daughter, Sue Rae McCormick of Pinckneyville, Ill.; two grandchildren, Bobbi Ann (Kevin) Green of Bonnie, Ill. and Rhonda Rae Pierce of Pinckneyville, Ill.; six great grandchildren, Thomas Brandon Wade (significant other, Sidney House), Elizabeth Lorene Wade, Haley Summer Green, Delaney Nicole Pierce, Vanessa Rae Pierce and Lucy Lynn (Blake) Eisenhauer; six great-great grandchildren, Danica Ann Wade, Emily Michelle Wade, Sallie Eisenhauer, Raeleigh Elizabeth Wade and Calvin Robert Dale Eisenhauer; one sister, Helen Hoffman of Pinckneyville, Ill.; several nieces; nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one great grandson, Kevin John Green and one sister, Wanda Dippel.

Funeral services will be held at the First Pentecostal Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend J. Mark Harris Sr. and Reverend Duane Bolinger officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Du Quoin, Ill.

Friends may call at the First Pentecostal Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Pentecostal Church, Pinckneyville, Ill.
