Elbert Lee Dial

Elbert Lee Dial, 79, of Tamaroa, passed away at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the Odin Health Care Center in Odin, Ill.

Elbert had worked as a butcher in St. Louis and also in the shipping department at MCA for 33 years. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was born April 1, 1935 at Arkansas, the son of Shadrick and Pauline (McClendon) Dial.

He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including Carol Schubert Hilmes of Salem, great nieces and great nephews including Cindy Schubert Geary, Cheryl Schubert and Clinton Schubert, all of Tamaroa, great great nieces and great great nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers - Ethan Dial and William 'Frank' Dial, and three sisters - Freeda Smith, Fern Keeney, and Mary Ann Hargett.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Joseph Crowe officiating.

Friends may call from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery at Tamaroa.

Friends may make memorials to the Antioch Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
