Edward A. Jones

Edward A. "Ed" Jones, age 79, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Friday, May 16, 2014 in his home.

Ed was born on May 21, 1935 in Pinckneyville, Ill., a son to Austin and Florence (Schneider) Jones. On Sept. 8, 1962, he married Sara Dunn in Pinckneyville, Ill. and she survives. Ed was a proud veteran of the United States Army and worked as a foreman at G.S. Metals, Pinckneyville, Ill. for 37 years. He was a Christian and attended Roe's Dale Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. Ed enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and loved playing with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Sara Jones of Pinckneyville, Ill.; daughter, Julie (J.C.) Harrison of New Douglas, Ill.; son, Jeff (Vickie) Jones of Pinckneyville, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Austin, Drew, Logan, Ben, Hunter, Sara Beth, Jacob and Eli; mother-in-law, Margaret Dunn of Pinckneyville, Ill.; brother-in-law, Russell (Peggy) Dunn of Pinckneyville, Ill.; foster brother-in-law, Jimmy Gossman of Hurst, Ill.; two nephews, Bob (Janet) Brand of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Eric (Angie) Dunn of Okawville, Ill.; two nieces, Judy (Sam) Opp of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Courtney Dunn of Pinckneyville, Ill.; special friends, Sam and Anita Loyd of Pinckneyville, Ill.; several cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Phyllis Brand and her husband Jim.

Funeral services will be held at Roe's Dale Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Charles Smith and J.C. Harrison officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill. Graveside military rites provided by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
