Alice Jane Dorsey

Alice Jane Dorsey, 74, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:33 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2014 at her residence.

Alice had worked as a nurses aide at Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Perry County Historical Society and the Southern Illinois Historical Society.

She was born Oct. 20, 1939 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of Joseph Benton and Dorothy Lucille (Rice) Roberts.

She married Robert D. Dorsey on June 29, 1957 at Du Quoin, Ill. and he survives.

She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, two sons - Robert Steven Dorsey and wife Kim and Gary Dean Dorsey and wife Renee, all of Du Quoin, five grandchildren - Andy Dorsey of Centralia, Timothy Dorsey, Garrett Dorsey, Collin Dorsey and Maddison Dorsey, all of Du Quoin, five great grandchildren - Rynne Duel Dorsey, Aaron Lee Dorsey, Reagan Lynn Dorsey, Adalyn Jo Dorsey and Layla Ann Dorsey, one brother - Marion David Roberts and wife Betty of Tamaroa, three sisters - Wilma Zettler and husband Dale of Tamaroa, Dorothy Jo Ann Roberts of Reno, Nev. and Janet Davis and husband Sam of Du Quoin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter - Deanna Russell, three sisters and five brothers.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Bro. Jim Spiller officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery at Tamaroa.

Friends may make memorials to the D.A.R., Perry County Historical Society or Curley Chapel Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
