Robert G. Ritter

Robert G. Ritter, 73, of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:37 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

Robert was a retired mechanic at Abbott Lab in Chicago. He was a supporter of the DAV and the St. Lebre Indian School.

He was born Jan. 3, 1941 at Du Quoin, Ill., the son of John F. and Nina (Murphy) Ritter.

He married Margaret Boyd on June 13, 1959 at Pinckneyville, Ill. and she preceded him in death on Sept. 1, 2013.

He is survived by daughter- Jolene Hughes of Lake Villa, Ill., son- Robert Ritter Jr. of Du Quoin, grandchildren- Brandon, Jess, Brianna and Justin, three brothers- Don Ritter and wife Arvilla of Geneseo, Ill., Jerry Ritter and wife JoAnn of New Athens, Ill. and Fred Ritter of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sons- John Ritter and David Ritter.

Per Robert's request, cremation services were held.

Burial will be at a later date in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
