Eleanor Pyatt Kastin
Eleanor Pyatt Kastin, age 91, of Glen Carbon, Ill., passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. in Meridian Village Assisted Living, Glen Carbon, Ill.
Eleanor was born on June 25, 1922 on the family farm at the Pyatt Wye, Pinckneyville, Ill., a daughter to Frank and Pearl (Cunningham) Pyatt. On Dec. 20, 1969, she married Manuel "Mike" Kastin in the First Presbyterian Church, East St. Louis, Ill. and he preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 2003. She was a 1943 graduate of Christian Welfare School of Nursing in East St. Louis, Ill. and worked as a Registered Nurse for the Medical Surgical Clinic, Belleville, Ill. for 41 years. Eleanor was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Edwardsville, Ill., loved to travel and was on a bowling league. She was very likable, loved to socialize, never met a stranger and enjoyed attending activities and outings at Meridian Village.
Survivors include two nephews, Craig (Cheryl) Swartz of Sarasota, Fla. and Frank (Shirley) Dry of Springfield, Ill.; one niece, Marilyn (Steve) Stringer of Ullin, Ill.; six great nieces and nephews and six great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Helen Dry; two brothers-in-law, Maurice Dry and Jay Swartz, sister-in-law, Esther Swartz and niece, Pam Smith.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Phil Wellin officiating. Interment will be in Galum Presbyterian Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.
Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
