Jerry D. Martie

Jerry D. Martie, 74, of Elkville, passed away at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, April 20, 2014 at the Kindred Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

Jerry had been an electrician at Consol #5 Coal Mine and Kellog Dock.

He was born Aug. 4, 1939 at Hallidayboro, Ill., the son of Clarence and Juanita A. (Halstead) Martie.

He married Sue Fox on Nov. 26, 1959 at Elkville, Ill. and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Elkville, three children - Dale L. Martie and wife Bettie of Tennessee, Julie Martie and Doug Martie, both of Florida, five grandchildren - Jason, Bruce, Julie, Abbie and Bryan, seven great grandchildren, one brother - Lindell Martie and wife Iris of Ramsey, Ill., aunt - Phyllis (Lloyd) Loucks of Christopher, sister-in-law - Charlotte Baker of Murphysboro, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Scott Slone and Rev. Darryl Williams officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Elkville Cemetery at Elkville.

Friends may make memorials to the Elkville Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
