Florence E. Harr

Florence E. Harr, age 80, of Du Quoin, Ill., passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 11:15 p.m. in Marshall Browning Hospital, Du Quoin, Ill.

Florence was born on April 2, 1933 in Cuba, Ill., a daughter to Joseph and Tessie Wave (Bobo) Melvin. On Sept. 12, 1948, she married Carroll Leroy Harr in Kahoka, Mo. and he preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 2011. Florence enjoyed gardening, feeding her "critters," reading, listening to country music, cooking, working puzzles and loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include eight children, Janet DeFord of Pinckneyville, Ill., Vickie (Leslie) Bowles of Cuba, Ill., Robert Harr of Norris, Ill., Brenda Harr of Du Quoin, Ill., Suzanne (Kenneth) George of Tamaroa, Ill., Judy (Charles) Doolin of Coello, Ill., Cathy Craig of Jackson, Tenn. and Lori Bailey of Decatur, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; a sister, Donna Lasswell of Cuba, Ill. and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 63 years; son-in-law, Jack DeFord; two grandchildren, Michael George and Edward Jack "Ed" DeFord and brother-in-law, Eldon Lasswell.

Funeral service will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, Ill. on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Ted Clark officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Du Quoin, Ill.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, Ill. on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
