Opal Juanita Asbury

Opal Juanita (Fisher) Asbury, 86, of Du Quoin, went to be with the Lord at 4:25 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the Fairview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Du Quoin with her children and grandchildren by her side.

Opal was owner and operator of Asbury's Flowers for 30 years. She was also a housewife and loved to yard sale, camp and run the flower shop. She also loved antiques. After she retired, she and her husband traveled many places. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin. Opal had lived in Du Quoin all of her life and lived her life for her family.

She was born Jan. 26, 1928 at Pinckneyville, Ill., the daughter of Howard Marion and Fannie Loucindia (Brown) Fisher.

She married Donald Dean Asbury on April 2, 1948 at Pinckneyville, Ill. and he preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 2006. They were married for 58 years.

She is survived by one daughter - Charlene Wiseman and husband Athel of Raleigh, Ill., one son - Bill Asbury and wife Jill of Du Quoin, 25 grandchildren and great grandchildren - Carletta and John Wayne McIntosh, Tabitha and Glen Miller, Alysia Kay and Buddy Lane, Jon Wiseman, Jennie and Alan Kremer, Kim and Kenny Sizemore, Kacie Asbury and fiance Nathan Bebout, Michael Asbury, Caitlin Asbury, Lindsay Asbury and fiance Nick Baskin, Emily Asbury and Brenna Asbury, great grandchildren - Derek and Katie Miller, Madison Miller, Morgan Lane, Montana Lane, Raymond McIntosh, Becca McIntosh, Kirsten Kremer, Alexis Kremer, Drake Kremer, Haydan Sizemore and Haylee Sizemore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son - Donald R. Asbury, four brothers - Frank Fisher, Leland Fisher, Lester Fisher and William Fisher, four sisters - Margaret Dorsey, Lola Mae Fisher, Beulah Faye Fisher and Betty Jokisch, and two great grandsons - John Wayne McIntosh Jr. and Christian Michael Miller.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin, by the side of her loving husband.

Friends may make memorials to Special Olympics and will be accepted at the funeral home.
