Margaret Esther Wilks

Margaret Esther "Marge" Wilks, age 93, of Pinckneyville, Ill., went to be with her Lord on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 at 9:55 a.m. in Friendship Manor Health Care Center, Nashville, Ill., where she had resided since June 2008.

Marge was born on March 27, 1919 in Pinckneyville, Ill., a daughter to Harry and Verna (Meshelski) Campbell. On April 18, 1937, she married Ernest Leeanard Wilks in Pinckneyville, Ill. and he preceded her in death on June 28, 1978. Marge worked at Nesbit's Dry Goods Store in the early 1940's and later worked for Forest City Manufacturing Garment Factory in Pinckneyville, Ill. After moving to Lincoln Neb., she worked at one of their schools in the cafeteria. Upon moving to Springfield, Ill., she worked in the cafeteria of St. John's Hospital. While working there, she taught herself medical terms and became a medical transcriptionist at St. John's Hospital. She also ran a medical transcription office in her home. While in Springfield she was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge and became a Worthy Matron. In 1978, after the death of her husband, she retired to Pinckneyville where she enjoyed gardening, yard work, drawing and painting, Home Extension meetings, sewing, quilting, going to church and being with her grandchildren.

Marge is survived by two daughters, Judy (Ed) Hamilton and Apryl Lynn Asa; four grandchildren, Dena Stogsdill, Todd (Sara) Rennison, Jarod (Christy)Herrera, and SaraBeth Herrera; seven great grandchildren, Annie Geib, Levi Rennison, Austin Stogsdill, Emily Rennison, Dylan Stogsdill, Hailee Cox and Kaden Herrera; one brother-in-law, Glenn Wilks and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Leonora Higgerson.

Funeral services will be held at Holts Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Collin Hirsch officiating. Interment will be in Holts Prairie Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.

Friends may call at Holts Prairie Baptist Church on Thursday, 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Disease Research.
