John Carl Lindner Jr
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[John Carl Lindner Jr., 86, of Florence, S.C., formerly of Du Quoin, passed away at 4:50 a.m., Sunday, August 5, 2012 at the Southland Health Center in Florence, S.C.
John had been a warehouse worker at the Du Quoin Packing Company. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He was born May 4, 1926 at Du Quoin, Ill., the son of John Carl and Magealina (Schlueter) Lindner, Sr.
He married Floy I. Perryman on July 7, 1951 at the Old Du Quoin Baptist Church in Du Quoin and she survives.
He is survived by his wife - Floy I. Lindner of Florence, S.C., one son - John D. Lindner and wife Laura of Florence, S.C., two granddaughters - Julianne Lindner of Augusta, Ga. and Emily Gressett and husband Matthew of Evanston, Ill. and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers - Virgil Lindner, Gene Lindner, William Lindner, and Julius Lindner.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 10, 2012 at the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin with Rev. Steve Bareis officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to Jim Booker Memorial Scholarship Fund or First Baptist Church Building Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
