Roberta Dooley Torrence
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Roberta Dooley Torrence was baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection on Tuesday, June 26, 2012.
She was the loving wife of the late Charles F. Torrence, dear mother of Stephen (Gretchen) Chassaing, of Portland, Ore. and Patrick (Deborah) Chassaing, loving grandmother of Jimmy Chassaing, of Denver, Colo. and Jack Chassaing, loving youngest sister of the late Louise, Audrey, Betty and Ruth and dear aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend.
Roberta was born to Mike and Fleta Dooley in Du Quoin, Ill. on Jan. 19, 1928 and attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale before moving to St. Louis, Mo. There she met and married Joseph E. Chassaing in 1948. After raising her sons, Roberta enjoyed a career as an executive secretary. In 1967 she married Charles F. Torrence, with whom she shared a deep love and the joy of the piano and classical music. Roberta was an avid gardener, genealogist and solver of the daily crossword.
The family gratefully acknowledges the loving and dedicated care of the Carmelite Sisters and nursing staff of St. Agnes Home, especially Candace and Irma, and of Odyssey Hospice, especially Brandi and Robin.
A private interment service will be held at St. Paul Churchyard. Memorial Mass will be Friday, July 6 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at St. Agnes Home, 10341 Manchester Road, Kirkwood. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to St. Agnes Home or the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra.
