Joan J. Keene

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Joan J. Keene, 80, of Pinckneyville, passed away at 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at the Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

Joan had been a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville. She had been a Sunday School teacher, a member of the church choir and was involved in other church activities. Joan had also been a Girl Scout leader. She was a loving mother and wife.

She was born June 28, 1931 at Pinckneyville, Ill., the daughter of Alvin and Maureen (Livesay) Joiner.

She married Donald L. Keene Sr. on August 4, 1951 at the First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville and he preceded her in death in October of 2006.

She is survived by two daughters - Diane Barker of O&#39;Fallon, Ill. and Jacalyn Keene of St. Louis, Mo., one son - Donald L. Keene Jr. and wife Pam of Pinckneyville, one sister - Debra Joiner, seven grandchildren - Michael L. Keene and wife Andrea, Clinton M. Keene, Donald James "DJ" Keene, Aubrey L. Pieper and husband Ben, Timothy D. Barker, Emily R. Barker and Natalee J. Barker and four great grandchildren - Ella Keene, Reid Keene, Daisy Pieper and Donald Pieper.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother - Jack Joiner.

Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 11, 2012 at the Mueller Hill Cemetery at Pinckneyville with Bro. Richard Vaughn officiating.

Burial was in the Mueller Hill Cemetery at Pinckneyville.

Family visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Kidney Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.
