Richard Clampet
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Richard "Hoppy" Clampet, age 84, of Coulterville, Ill., passed away on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Richard was born on May 19, 1927 in Perry County, Ill., a son to Raymond and Lela (Taylor) Clampet. On Nov. 21, 1947, he married Genevieve Presswood in Lincoln, Ill. and she preceded him in death on May 29, 2002. Richard was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran of the United States Navy Seabee's serving during World War II. He worked for the Sheriff's Department in Logan County for 14 years and was a coal miner for 30 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Lincoln, Ill. and the Fraternal Order of Police. Richard enjoyed woodworking and dearly loved spending time with his family.
Richard is survived by two sons, Douglas (Julie) Clampet of Chestnut, Ill. and Thomas (Judy) Clampet of Anna, Ill.; two daughters, Brenda (Willie) Rentmeister of Mt. Pulaski, Ill. and Nancy Knope of Coulterville, Ill.; two sisters, Emma Schubert and Nina Goldman both of Tamaroa, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Genevieve; one son, Richard Clampet; one grandson; John Rentmeister, two sisters, Madge Keller and Maxine Rolphs and two brothers, Lloyd Clampet and Raymond Clampet.
Funeral services were held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011 at 1:00 p.m.. Interment was in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill. Graveside military honors were conducted by the Du Quoin American Legion Post #647 and Du Quoin V.F.W.
Friends called at Pyatt Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
