Robert L. Hastings
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Robert L. "Bob" Hastings, age 77, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 at 11:18 p.m. in Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.
Bob was born on June 28, 1933 in Williamson County, Ill., a son to Horace and Jewell (Smith) Hastings. He was a veteran of the United States Army proudly serving during the Korean War. On Nov. 16, 1952, he married Lillian Patsy Parks in Williamson County, Ill. and after almost 55 beautiful years of marriage she preceded him in death on September 1, 2007. Bob was of the Baptist faith and attended services at Nine Mile Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. He had retired as a coal miner after working over 30 years at Arch of Illinois. He had a lifetime love of horses and exotic animals, enjoyed his time driving for and assisting the Amish, and operating a carriage and limousine service and loved spending his winters in Texas.
Survivors include his son, Alan (Judie) Hastings of Pinckneyville, Ill.; two daughters, Patricia (Steve) Lewis of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Carman Kabala of Hawaii; a brother, Gary (Robin) Hastings of Sunfield, Ill.; a sister, Dorothy Ann Bailey of Granite City, Ill.; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Travis) Norris, Brian Lewis, Michelle (Jason) Mohr, Cory Hastings, Ryan Shirck and Christina Bennion; six great-grandchildren, Kyle, Justin and Kayla Norris, Grayson Mohr and Celsey and Caleb Bennion;and his beloved dog, Poncho.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a granddaughter.
Funeral services were held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Ivan Ryan and Brother Noah Schlag officiating. Interment was in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.
Friends called at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
