Mary Lucinda Pierce

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mary Lucinda Pierce, 96, of Du Quoin, passed away at 3:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 20, 2010 at the Marshall Browning Hospital at Du Quoin.

Mary was a homemaker. She was a member of the Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church at Scheller.

She was born July 20, 1914 at Sesser, Ill., the daughter of Elmer and Alta (Kirkpatrick) Wingo.

She married Steve Pierce on Feb. 28, 1931 at Benton, Ill. and he preceded her in death on April 29, 1995.

She is survived by two daughters - Violet Malone and Alma Williams and husband Elmer, all of Du Quoin, one granddaughter - Debra Shelby and husband Steve of Schererville, Ind., two great granddaughters - Jessica Brown of Santa Monica, Calif. and Jacqueline Krupinski of Indianapolis, Ind., one great great granddaughter - Madeline Marie Krupinski.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law - Olen Malone, four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Larry Cook and Rev. Marvin Boswell officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial was in the Maple Hill Cemetery at Sesser.

Friends may make memorials to the Fairview Nursing Center Activity Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
